MasTec Renewables is a segment of MasTec's Clean Energy & Infrastructure business, a $4 billion revenue unit providing construction services for various facilities, including power generation, manufacturing plants, and renewable energy installations.

Position Overview:

The Safety Manager is responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of the company's Safety Program at construction sites, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and corporate health, safety, and environmental regulations. This role involves significant travel across the United States, focusing on sustainability initiatives and supporting teams in constructing solar and wind infrastructure. Competitive subsistence allowances and relocation assistance are provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the safety program for complex construction projects.
  • Conduct safety inspections to identify violations and initiate Stop Work Authority as needed.
  • Guide onsite staff in addressing safety infractions to eliminate hazards and reduce future risks.
  • Promote safety leadership, fostering enthusiasm and engagement among management and workers.
  • Participate in the jobsite R4 Safety Committee and present findings to site management.
  • Lead site safety committee meetings and review safety documentation.
  • Communicate safety matters between the company and client management.
  • Review and input incident reports, maintaining site safety documentation.
  • Track and present leading safety indicators to project leadership.
  • Maintain first aid and emergency response supplies on site.
  • Administer drug and alcohol testing as required.
  • Spend a significant portion of time in the field on job sites.
  • Identify and address workplace safety hazards, documenting actions taken.
  • Implement the Zero Injury System for safety excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct weekly inspections as part of the environmental program.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement site-specific safety plans.
  • Coordinate safety training sessions on various topics.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Safety Manager I:

  • 2-3 years of construction safety experience with proven leadership capabilities.

Safety Manager II:

  • Preferred Associates or Bachelor's degree.
  • CHST or other BCSP certification preferred; must obtain CHST within one year.
  • 3-5 years of construction safety management experience.

Safety Manager III:

  • Preferred Associates or Bachelor's degree.
  • CHST or higher BCSP certification required within six months.
  • 5+ years of construction safety management experience.
Required Skills:

  • Commitment to health and safety, adhering to Zero Injury principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations and hazard recognition.
  • CPR/First Aid Instructor certification preferred.
  • Aim for professional certification (CHST, CMSP) within six months of hire.
Working Environment:

  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and high places.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.
  • Typically loud noise levels in the work environment.
