About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Robotics Engineer to join our team at Paladin, a pioneering company in the field of autonomous drone technology. As a Robotics Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing robotic systems that will enhance public safety and provide critical situational awareness to first responders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design, develop, and implement robotics systems, focusing on autonomy, navigation, and sensor integration for drone operations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, embedded engineers, electrical engineers, and product managers, to integrate robotics systems with other components of the drone.
  • Research and Development: Conduct research and development on new robotics technologies, including machine learning and CV algorithms for autonomous navigation and obstacle avoidance.
  • Testing and Analysis: Perform simulations, tests, and analyses to verify and optimize robotics systems' performance under various conditions.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support for deploying and operating robotics systems in the field.
  • Staying Up-to-Date: Stay up-to-date with advancements in robotics and related fields, incorporating cutting-edge technologies into Paladin's products.
  • Documentation: Document design processes, analyses, and testing results for internal review and compliance with industry standards.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of robotics engineering experience, focusing on autonomous systems, navigation, or sensor integration.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C, and Python for robotics applications.
  • AI and Robotics Experience: History of architecting, testing, deploying, maintaining, and improving AI (CV, ML, DL) on edge computing devices or servers.
  • Robotics Applications: Implemented robotics applications that use multithreading, multiprocessing, and/or CUDA without ROS.
  • Control Theory: Strong understanding of control theory with implementation history (Kalman filtering, particle filtering, PID, MPC, etc.).
  • Embedded Systems: Developed IPCs on embedded systems such as DDS, sockets, etc.
  • Robotics Simulation: Experience with robotics simulation tools and environments.
  • Development Tools: Intermediate knowledge of CMake and Git.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical team members and stakeholders.
