Position Overview:

The Avionics Project Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the development of advanced avionics systems for aerospace applications. This position requires a strong background in engineering principles and a passion for innovation in the aerospace sector.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide comprehensive design and testing support for various avionics projects within the Robotics Systems division.
2. Assist in the development and management of spacecraft fault management systems.
3. Collaborate with the design team on the selection of Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) components, connectors, and harness designs.
4. Work closely with Systems Engineers to maintain baseline test configurations and document any changes effectively.
5. Manage procurement processes by submitting purchase requisitions and maintaining accurate records of parts inventory.
6. Generate and uphold essential design documentation, including EEE parts derating assessments, radiation assessments, and Bills of Material (BOM).
7. Collaborate with design engineers to create procedures for analysis and verification testing of flight hardware, including environmental tests such as TVAC, Vibration, EMI, and radiation tests.
8. Conduct hardware troubleshooting to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical failures.
9. Perform job functions according to established guidelines and instructions.
10. Engage in teamwork and report to the project manager for technical support and task assignments.

Qualifications:

1. A bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, along with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
2. Proven experience in the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware.
3. Familiarity with System Engineering practices and formal engineering methodologies.
4. Knowledge of connector selection and wiring schemes for control systems.
5. Experience with testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and logic analyzers.
6. Prior experience with electrical schematic entry and PCB layout is preferred.
7. A self-motivated team player with the ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
8. Proficiency in preparing written documentation and presenting information in meetings.
9. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and experience with collaboration tools is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience with robotic systems, particularly manipulators.
2. Proficiency in using hand tools for assembly and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
3. Background in hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis.
4. Experience in developing engineering procedures.
5. Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process and cable design.
6. Previous experience coordinating requirements with external vendors.
