Job Overview: Key Responsibilities

Primary Objective

The role involves preparing financial data in the form of statements and reports to assist in management decision-making. This includes analysis for incorporation into the company's financial statements for all necessary filings with regulatory bodies such as the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The position also entails conducting analyses for various internal reports and ensuring the accuracy and punctuality of all assignments. The specialist will provide technical expertise to support business partners across the organization with a variety of tasks and projects.

This position plays a crucial role in supporting both External and Internal Financial Reporting teams. Responsibilities may encompass the preparation of SEC filings, internal financial reports, and the analysis of financial data, along with various management reports and account activity analysis. The specialist will assist in ensuring the timely completion of month-end close processes and respond accurately to data requests under strict deadlines.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare financial reports, including financial statements, to support management decision-making and perform analyses of financial results for SEC reporting and corporate reporting. Collaborate with internal business partners to provide financial insights and resolve accounting and reporting issues in alignment with company policies. Investigate complex fluctuations in financial results, monitor variances, identify key drivers, and recommend actions to management. Prepare schedules for general and deferred rate cases, leveraging knowledge to respond to data requests and contribute to witness testimony preparation. Enhance productivity by automating accounting processes and coordinating information requirements. Compile and analyze financial data for federal reporting as necessary. Review regulatory transactions calculated by the Rates Department for inclusion in financial statements and ensure accurate recording of those transactions. Prepare and record journal entries to support precise financial reporting, including account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts. Ensure compliance with internal controls, identify deficiencies, and propose improvements. Support activities related to internal and external audits. Adhere to all compliance aspects of the position and understand the relevant policies, codes, and regulations.

Qualifications Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution, along with over 6 years of progressive experience in accounting. If the degree is in a related field, completion of college-level accounting coursework required for Nevada CPAs is necessary. Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Proven technical knowledge, including research into new accounting guidance and SEC and FERC regulations. Strong understanding of financial reporting and the company's business processes. Demonstrated project management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities. Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proficient in interpreting accounting, financial, and economic information. Technical Proficiencies
Proficient in PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Work Environment
General office environment with no special physical demands required. Compensation and Benefits

Annual Salary: $100,700 (Min) to $118,400 (Mid); potential for up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the company's discretion. This is a non-represented position.
