Key Responsibilities:

Position Overview:

The Executive Vice President of Operations will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will be an integral member of the executive leadership team. This individual will serve as a crucial collaborator to the CEO, overseeing the financial and operational integrity of the organization.

Financial Management:

In collaboration with the Finance Director, you will be responsible for preparing the annual budget, conducting periodic budget reviews, and forecasting financial outcomes, including profit and loss statements and cash flow projections. You will also generate monthly variance reports for the Finance Committee, Board, department heads, and senior management.

Your role will include assessing the financial implications of significant capital expenditures and providing informed recommendations. Establishing and nurturing relationships with financial institutions will be essential, as you will also be the primary signatory on checks.

Insurance Oversight:

You will manage all facets of Property, Liability, and Workers' Compensation Insurance.

Human Resources Collaboration:

Working alongside the Chief of Staff, you will design and implement employee benefits plans, ensuring effective administration and communication regarding health insurance and retirement plans. You will also partner with the Chief Program Officer and Chief of Staff to periodically review and renegotiate collective bargaining agreements.

Your responsibilities will include evaluating new hire requests and their financial implications, as well as overseeing the payroll and benefits system, including the approval of bi-weekly payroll.

Board Engagement:

You will prepare monthly financial updates and reports for the Board of Directors and Finance Committee, serving as the primary liaison for these committees, including planning and executing meetings and assisting in member recruitment.

Building a strong partnership with the Board Treasurer will be vital, as you will act as the main point of contact.

Personnel Management:

Supervision of the Finance Director will be part of your role, providing guidance, input, and constructive feedback. You will also oversee the Director of Facilities to ensure that all facility management, security, and maintenance operations are executed effectively.

Collaboration with other managers will be necessary to guarantee efficient program delivery.

General Responsibilities:

You will serve as a primary strategic partner to the CEO, assisting in long-term planning initiatives. Your leadership will be crucial in representing the organization at community events and ensuring smooth internal operations.

Contract negotiation with vendors and external contractors will be part of your duties, along with working closely with program staff and stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategic goals and financial prudence.

Your willingness to engage hands-on in finance operations during staff absences will be appreciated.

Long-term goal setting and objective development will be essential to maintain financial health. You will be tasked with evaluating all systems and processes, recommending improvements as necessary.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • A minimum of 7 years of senior-level experience in financial and operational management.
  • Experience in building, construction, or property management.
  • A background in nonprofit or educational institutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in standard office software, including Word, Excel, and QuickBooks.
  • A commitment to the mission of the organization.
  • A Bachelor's Degree.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate teams.
  • The capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
  • Proven experience in customer service and community engagement.
  • Availability for evening and weekend commitments as necessary.
  • The ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000, commensurate with experience. The organization offers excellent benefits, including medical, dental, vision, vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay.
