This is a pivotal role within our Leadership Team, overseeing essential human resource functions such as payroll management, HR systems, benefits administration, compliance with employment laws, employee relations, policy formulation, performance management, training, and recruitment.

The Head of Human Resources will report directly to the Vice President & Chief Business Officer and will manage a Talent Acquisition Associate. As the company expands, there is significant potential for departmental growth. This position is based at our pharmacy facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute HR strategies that align with the overarching business objectives.
  • Formulate corporate plans addressing various HR aspects, including compensation and benefits.
  • Champion the human element within the organization by developing strategies for performance assessment, staffing, and professional development.
  • Oversee all HR initiatives and systems.
  • Guide and supervise HR personnel.
  • Act as the primary contact for employee relations and liaise with labor unions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and legal standards.
  • Address grievances and manage disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Identify and mitigate potential litigation risks.
  • Provide analytical reports to senior management using HR metrics.
  • Develop talent acquisition strategies to create robust pipelines for future hiring.
  • Establish career development frameworks.
  • Promote workplace inclusion and uphold our commitment to equal opportunity.
  • Ensure effective hiring, onboarding, and management processes for diverse candidates.
  • Monitor key HR metrics, including cost per hire and retention rates.
  • Manage internal communication initiatives, such as employee satisfaction surveys.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of benefits programs and suggest enhancements.
  • Lead HR projects, including revisions to compensation plans.
  • Communicate and exemplify the company's core values; manage a quarterly recognition program for employees.
  • Accurately process payroll and manage related employment integrations.
  • Administer benefits programs.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of check-ins and biannual performance reviews, providing training as needed.
  • Oversee HR data management and corrective actions.
  • Establish wage modeling and criteria.
  • Facilitate management-employee relations by addressing issues impartially.
  • Develop and manage succession planning; create and update job descriptions.
  • Coach and mentor managers in both group and individual settings.
  • Foster a positive work environment conducive to employee growth.
  • Consult with executives on strategic decisions impacting all management levels.
  • Maintain and update the Employee Handbook as necessary.
  • Guide recruitment efforts and processes.
  • Conduct orientations and manage onboarding and offboarding procedures.
  • Organize and maintain documentation and reporting records.
  • Keep the company directory and organizational charts up to date.
  • Propose new policies and procedures.
  • Document and publish HR workflows and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Contribute to team productivity; resolve conflicts positively; conduct investigations and maintain organized documentation.
  • Plan and implement HR projects and new initiatives as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Certification or membership in SHRM or 15Five HR Superstars is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience in core HR functions.
  • Successful completion of drug screening, background checks, and pre-employment verification.
  • Strong strategic skills and sound business judgment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Dependable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to develop strategies and lead effectively.
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Competent in following policies and procedures.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and flexibility.
  • Able to work under pressure and manage workload effectively.
  • Understanding of organizational operations to achieve objectives.
  • Thorough knowledge of HR management principles.

  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting.

  • High ethical standards and diligence.
  • Hands-on experience with HR software (HRIS, ATS).
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
