Department: Languages & Communication
FTE: Less than 67%
Work Schedule: Flexible based on assignment
Salary Range: Class II, step 1 of Adjunct, Overload, and Substitute Salary Schedule
Role Summary
Under the guidance of administrative leadership, part-time faculty are entrusted with responsibilities that align with the college's mission and values. Duties include managing classroom assignments, evaluating student performance, developing curriculum, advising students, and engaging in professional development activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication, or organizational communication OR
- Bachelor's degree in any of the above fields with a Master's degree in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English OR
- Equivalent qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
The Speech and Debate team is looking for a part-time instructor to assist in coaching both individual events and debate. Our team boasts a rich history of success at local, national, and international levels. The ideal candidate will have prior coaching experience in various speaking events, including but not limited to IPDA debate, parliamentary debate, interpretive events, platform events, and limited preparation events. Additionally, the instructor should be willing to travel with the team to tournaments and serve as a competition judge when necessary.
Working Conditions: Faculty roles may involve extended periods of standing and walking in a typical classroom environment. Specific conditions may vary depending on the subjects taught.
