The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is dedicated to fostering a diverse academic environment that promotes equity and inclusivity. We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable individual to join our faculty in the Biology Department.
Role Summary:
As a regular/contract instructor, you will play a crucial role in the design, execution, and assessment of educational programs and courses that contribute to the academic growth of our students. Your primary focus will be on teaching advanced courses in Cellular, Molecular, and Evolutionary Biology, along with supporting the curriculum development and evaluation of student learning outcomes. Additionally, you will be responsible for instructing Principles of Biology for non-majors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging lectures and laboratory sessions in Cellular, Molecular, and Evolutionary Biology.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance curriculum and instructional materials.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to shared governance initiatives.
- Advise students on academic pathways and career opportunities in the biological sciences.
- Provide academic support and mentorship to students outside of class hours.
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Master's degree in any biological science.
- Bachelor's degree in any biological science along with a Master's degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science.
- Equivalent qualifications.
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in teaching cellular and molecular biology at the college level.
- Strong commitment to staying current in the field of biology and employing innovative teaching methods.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse student populations.
- Experience with laboratory techniques and biotechnology applications.
