Position Overview:

Role Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for assessing student eligibility and managing all aspects of the financial assistance process, which includes federal, private, campus-based, and non-campus-based financial aid programs.

Key duties include:

  • Providing guidance to current and prospective students and their families regarding individual financial aid eligibility while ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Collaborating with various departments within the university to guarantee accurate financial aid data is communicated to students.
  • Performing additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree is mandatory. However, equivalent experience in higher education with responsibilities similar to those outlined may be considered in lieu of a degree.

A minimum of two years of experience in finance or accounting is required, with a preference for candidates who have financial aid experience. Membership in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church is also a requirement.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in data entry and the use of a 10-key calculator is essential. Candidates must be able to write clearly, communicate effectively in English, and utilize necessary computer software and office equipment.

Essential Interpersonal Skills:

The ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve specific objectives is crucial. Candidates should be able to communicate professionally and confidentially with students and parents via phone, in writing, and in person.

Additional skills include:

  • Persuading others to cooperate and follow through on plans.
  • Maintaining a positive and professional demeanor, especially under pressure.
  • Accepting guidance and direction from supervisors.
Cognitive Abilities:

Candidates must possess quick thinking skills and a basic understanding of mathematics and accounting principles to analyze and manipulate data effectively.

Additional cognitive requirements include:

  • Interpreting data and making informed decisions based on analysis.
  • Following complex instructions and working independently without direct supervision.
  • Proofreading documents for accuracy and content.
  • Fostering positive interactions with colleagues and maintaining a team-oriented attitude.
Sensory Abilities:

Effective communication in a busy environment is essential. Candidates should be able to hear and engage in conversations both in person and over the phone, as well as read computer screens and written documents necessary for the role.

Employment Information:

This is a full-time position with regular employee status, primarily during daytime hours from Monday to Friday.
