Position Overview:
The Emergency Financial Advisor plays a crucial role in assisting patients who are undergoing treatment in our Emergency or Advanced Urgent Care departments. This position guides patients through the financial procedures from the initial assessment to either discharge or admission.
This role encompasses various responsibilities within the financial office, serving as a vital resource for colleagues. Responsibilities include verifying benefits, confirming eligibility, and facilitating authorization processes with payers and medical groups. The advisor is tasked with gathering essential documentation to support authorization requests and maintaining continuous communication with payers, primary care physicians, and RN service coordinators as required.The advisor is also responsible for creating and implementing financial agreements with patients and payers for both facility and professional services in accordance with established policies.
These services may be rendered for both affiliated hospitals. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
A minimum of three years of customer service experience is required, preferably in a hospital registration setting, physician's office, or Medical Group registration with a focus on Managed Care, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and/or California Children's Services.
Familiarity with Federal, State, and County eligibility regulations is preferred.Skills and Competencies:
Exceptional customer service skills are essential.
Candidates must be able to write clearly, communicate effectively in English, and provide outstanding service to all patients, families, and both internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in using computers, printers, and necessary software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, patient accounting, registration, and insurance eligibility tools) is required.
Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing, is necessary. Candidates should possess critical thinking abilities, demonstrate professionalism in interactions, and adhere consistently to policies. The ability to work calmly under pressure, collaborate with others, and manage multiple tasks efficiently is crucial. Additionally, candidates should be capable of performing basic mathematical functions, organizing and prioritizing workloads, and demonstrating attention to detail.
Visual acuity to read computer screens and written documents, as well as the ability to distinguish colors and sounds relevant to the workplace, is required.
