Area Facilities Operations Manager

CommuniCare Health Services is a leader in providing exceptional person-centered care, dedicated to serving individuals with chronic illnesses and complex conditions.

With a network of over 150 skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, behavioral health, and long-term care facilities, we cater to nearly 16,000 residents and patients at any given time.

We are seeking a qualified individual to take on the pivotal role of Area Facilities Operations Manager, overseeing multiple facilities.


Position Overview:

The Area Facilities Operations Manager is tasked with the comprehensive management of operations, maintenance, and safety protocols across various facilities.

This position requires a solid foundation in life safety regulations, including NFPA and OSHA standards, along with extensive experience in electrical, plumbing, construction, and mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational abilities, a thorough understanding of electronic systems, and proven expertise in personnel management, financial oversight, and emergency response.

Experience in managing healthcare facilities is crucial to navigate the unique challenges of this sector, particularly within Skilled Nursing Facilities and Long-Term Care environments.


Key Responsibilities:
Life Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to life safety codes and standards across all facilities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of NFPA regulations and OSHA standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and emergency drills.

Facilities Management:
  • Oversee the maintenance and functionality of electrical, plumbing, construction, and mechanical systems.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies to enhance facility longevity and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for repair and renovation projects.

Leadership and Team Management:
  • Provide effective leadership and guidance to the facilities operations team.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
  • Manage staffing processes, including recruitment, training, and performance assessments.

Crisis Management:
  • Lead emergency response efforts, ensuring the safety of all occupants.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive emergency preparedness plans.
  • Assess and prioritize crisis responses to minimize disruption.

Financial Oversight:
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for facilities operations.
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Project Coordination:
  • Manage multiple facilities and projects concurrently.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects within scope and budget.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align projects with organizational objectives.

Technical Proficiency:
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of electronic systems, including computer and telecommunications.
  • Stay informed about the latest technologies relevant to facilities operations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
  • A minimum of 7 years of facilities management experience, with at least 5 years in a healthcare context.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of life safety, NFPA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing electrical, plumbing, construction, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage personnel, finances, and emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electronic systems and platforms pertinent to facilities operations.
