Ball State University oversees custodial services, event preparations and disassemblies, and outdoor maintenance for all athletic, recreational, and event venues.

The Athletic Facilities Operations Manager is crucial in directing service personnel within Sports Facilities and Recreation Services, part of Ball State Business and Auxiliary Services.


Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of eighteen months of post-secondary education or equivalent experience.

Three to five years of experience in building maintenance and grounds management, including at least one year in a supervisory role; candidates must hold a valid Indiana Driver's License and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy.

Authorization to work in the US: Candidates must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Position Function:

Assign, oversee, guide, train, and assess the work of Field Facilities Attendants and student employees to ensure cleanliness, appeal, and timely arrangements of all athletic, recreational, or physical education venues and special events, facilities, courts, or fields.


Job Duties:


Supervise, monitor, evaluate, and coordinate daily operations, including special event preparations and disassemblies, ensuring methods, supplies, and equipment are utilized effectively.

Assist in the appropriate allocation of Field Facilities Attendants for specific tasks necessitated by emergencies or special events.

Coordinate and inspect proper marking and arrangements of all athletic, recreational, or physical education venues, courts, or fields according to established athletic and academic standards.

Assist in supervising and coordinating the proper operations of Physical Education, Athletic, and Recreation facilities and spaces.

Maintain records of personnel, equipment, and supplies; this includes attendance, overtime charts, vacation schedules, performance records, disciplinary reports, formal documentation, equipment and supplies evaluations, and building maintenance requests.

Orient and train staff, and provide recommendations in all areas related to supervision, including but not limited to assisting with compensation, discipline, performance evaluations, training, and career development of Field Facilities Attendants and students.

Monitor and report personnel issues, equipment and supply needs, and the necessity for maintenance and repair of physical facilities.

Enforce all safety, shop, and university regulations and report issues to the Associate Director of Sports Facilities and Recreation, resolving problems appropriately.

Assist with the recruitment and hiring of employees and students as needed.
Act as a liaison with various departments on campus regarding general maintenance and operational matters.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
