Job Overview

We are in search of a skilled Controls Systems Engineer with a strong background in electrical design to enhance our professional team.

Position Summary:
A Controls Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and development of control systems tailored to meet client specifications. Responsibilities include creating layouts, selecting materials, and optimizing machine placement to boost production efficiency. This role may also involve assessing performance and suggesting improvements. Occasional travel may be necessary for the commissioning of new or upgraded equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document Functional Design Specifications, PLC code, and sequencer pinning based on process designs.
  • Create I/O checkout lists.
  • Conduct equipment specifications and cost analyses.
  • Design electrical schematics and control equipment.
  • Estimate equipment and labor costs.
  • Architect control system networks.
  • Facilitate Functional Design Specification meetings and Factory Acceptance Test simulations.
  • Lead commissioning and training initiatives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of control standards utilized by the team.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Certifications such as EIT, PE, CCE, ISA, and Ignition Core/Gold are advantageous.

Experience: 3-6 years in a related field.

Professional Skills:

  • Proficient in PC and Windows Operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Adept at identifying, planning, and tracking tasks necessary for completing Control System Designs based on P&IDs and layouts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Soft Skills:

  • Effective social skills, teamwork capabilities, problem-solving skills, project management, time management, coordination, and communication abilities.

Physical / Working Environment:

  • The position is based in a professional office setting with a conservative dress code. The noise level is typically moderate. Regular tasks include sitting, typing, and verbal communication. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
  • Equipment utilized includes computers, calculators, and telephones.
  • Understanding both spoken and written instructions is essential, along with good vision.
  • Personal protective equipment may be required when on the manufacturing floor.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all safety and environmental policies is paramount. Employees are expected to prioritize health and safety in their work duties and report any violations or deficiencies.
