Automation Control Engineer

Krones Process Group North America LLC specializes in the design, construction, installation, and maintenance of comprehensive systems tailored for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors. We are in search of a skilled Controls Systems Engineer with a strong background in electrical design to contribute to our professional team.
Role Summary: The Controls Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and development of control systems that align with client requirements and specifications. Responsibilities may encompass the layout design, material selection, information flow, and equipment placement. The engineer will also identify solutions to enhance production efficiency, assess performance, and recommend and implement enhancements. Some travel may be necessary for the commissioning of new or upgraded systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Design and Functional Design Specifications, PLC code, and documentation for sequencer pinning based on process design.
- Create I/O Checkout lists.
- Prepare equipment specifications and conduct cost analyses.
- Draft electrical schematics and control equipment designs.
- Estimate equipment and labor costs.
- Design control system network architecture.
- Facilitate Functional Design Specification meetings and Factory Acceptance Test simulations.
- Lead commissioning and training initiatives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of new and existing control standards for team utilization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required. Professional certifications such as EIT, PE, CCE, ISA, and Ignition Core/Gold are preferred.
Experience: 3-6 years of relevant experience in a similar field.
Professional Skills:
- Proficient in PC and Windows Operating systems, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to identify, plan, and track tasks necessary for completing Control System Designs based on P&IDs and layouts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Soft Skills:
- Strong social skills, teamwork capabilities, problem-solving aptitude, project management skills, and effective time management.
Work Environment:
- The position is based in a professional office setting with a conservative business dress code. The noise level is typically moderate.
- Regular tasks include sitting, typing, and effective communication.
- Personal protective equipment is required when on the manufacturing floor.
- Maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to all safety and environmental policies is essential.
