Your Role
As a Controls Automation Specialist, you will be instrumental in supporting the automation systems within our facilities, overseeing the controls for production and warehouse operations. Your role will involve assisting production maintenance technicians and guiding the Maintenance Specialists towards future advancements through training and proactive management of the operational technology network.

Key Responsibilities (% of Time)
1. Install, initiate, and maintain electrical equipment and control systems within the facility. Troubleshoot issues related to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Integrate both existing and new machinery as required. Identify and resolve issues with motor controls, including starters, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and standard electrical components. Address industrial electrical troubleshooting. Communicate technical challenges to management. (40%)

2. Develop, support, and provide training for the building IACS and SCADA systems. (20%)

3. Assist with any maintenance requirements for the facility. (20%)

4. Educate peers on necessary skills to enhance departmental performance. (20%)

Additional qualifications that would be beneficial include:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in electronic technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years in systems controls and PLC programming within an industrial setting.
- At least 7 years of experience in industrial maintenance.
- 3 years of experience in team leadership.

Maintenance Expertise:

Experience supporting various conveyors, sortation systems, and robotics within an Industrial Automation Controls System (IACS) network is essential. Familiarity with stamping presses and related machinery is preferred.
Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is required.


Software Proficiency:

Expertise in Rockwell's RSLogix 500 & 5000, FactoryTalk Suite Platform, FactoryTalk View, Studio 5000, RSLinx; AutomationDirect's Do-more, C-more, DirectSOFT, CLICK is necessary. Familiarity with AutoCAD and FANUC robotics is also advantageous.


Safety Compliance:

A strong understanding of and adherence to NFPA 70E - Electrical Safety in the Workplace, NFPA 70 (NEC), and OSHA Standards is critical. Experience utilizing Lean tools with Root Cause Analysis to address equipment issues is preferred. Simpson Strong-Tie Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification is required (will certify at hire).

Maintain a cooperative approach when interacting with fellow Simpson Strong-Tie employees.

Ability to communicate effectively in both group settings and one-on-one interactions. This includes listening attentively and understanding expressed needs, as well as asking questions appropriately without interrupting.

Technological Proficiency:

Proficient in a Microsoft PC environment, utilizing Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), and the Internet for work-related tasks. Knowledge of implementing and maintaining industrial protocols such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Profibus is necessary.


Mathematical Skills:
Understanding of advanced arithmetic, algebra, and geometry is required.

Self-Management:
Exhibit a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment to completing assignments in a timely manner.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to sit. This role involves operating large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, with frequent twisting and bending motions. The employee may frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.


Work Environment:

This position may involve exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.


Travel Requirements:
This position requires less than 10% domestic travel.

Work Status & Location:
This is a full-time, exempt position.

Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Compensation:
Annual salary range is $71,500 - $92,900.
