Role Overview
As an Industrial Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the automation systems within our facilities, focusing on the control mechanisms for production and warehouse operations. Your expertise will assist production maintenance teams and guide Maintenance Specialists towards future advancements through training and readiness initiatives. You will also oversee the operational technology (OT) network.
Key Responsibilities (% of Time)
1. Install, initiate, and sustain electrical equipment and control systems within the facility. Troubleshoot issues related to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). (40%)
2. Develop, support, and provide training for the building's Industrial Automation Control Systems (IACS) and SCADA systems. (20%)
3. Address maintenance requirements for the facility. (20%)
4. Educate peers on essential skills to enhance departmental performance. (20%)
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in electronic technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years in systems controls and PLC programming within an industrial setting.
- At least 7 years of experience in industrial maintenance.
- 3 years of experience in team leadership.
Technical Expertise
- Experience with various conveyors, sortation systems, and robotics within an IACS network.
- Familiarity with stamping presses and related machinery is advantageous.
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is essential.
Software Proficiency
- Skilled in Rockwell's RSLogix 500 & 5000, FactoryTalk Suite, FactoryTalk View, Studio 5000, RSLinx; AutomationDirect's Do-more, C-more, DirectSOFT, CLICK.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and FANUC robotics.
Safety Compliance
- Strong understanding of NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace, NFPA 70 (NEC), and OSHA Standards.
- Experience utilizing Lean tools and Root Cause Analysis for equipment troubleshooting.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position may involve exposure to varying temperatures, high noise levels, vibrations, and moving mechanical components. The role requires the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods, with occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.
