Role Summary: The Controls Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and development of control systems that align with client requirements and specifications. Responsibilities may include creating layouts, determining material and information flow, and optimizing machine placement. The engineer will also be tasked with identifying solutions to enhance production efficiency, assessing performance, and proposing improvements. Occasional travel may be necessary for the commissioning of new or upgraded equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document Functional Design Specifications, PLC code, and sequencer pinning based on process designs.
  • Create I/O checkout lists.
  • Conduct equipment specifications and cost analyses.
  • Design electrical schematics and control equipment.
  • Estimate equipment and labor costs.
  • Architect control system networks.
  • Facilitate Functional Design Specification meetings and Factory Acceptance Test simulations.
  • Lead commissioning and training initiatives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of control standards utilized by the team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Certifications such as EIT, PE, CCE, ISA, and Ignition Core/Gold are preferred.

Experience: 3-6 years in a related field.

Professional Skills:

  • Proficient in PC and Windows Operating systems, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to identify, plan, and track tasks necessary for a complete Control System Design based on P&IDs and layouts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.

Soft Skills:

  • Effective teamwork, problem-solving, project management, time management, coordination, and communication skills.

Work Environment:

  • The position is situated in a professional office setting with a conservative dress code. The noise level is typically moderate.
  • Employees are required to sit, use hands for typing, and communicate verbally.
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, along with the ability to adjust focus.
  • Personal protective equipment is necessary when on the manufacturing floor.
  • Employees must prioritize safety and environmental policies and report any safety violations or deficiencies.
