As a Senior Automation Controls Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and implementation of automation systems that optimize our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in control systems, PLC programming, and HMI development. Proficiency in robotics, machine vision, safety components, and integrated inspection systems will be advantageous. Key Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Engineering:
    • Develop electrical designs, schematics, and drawings using AutoCAD
    • Interpret mechanical designs to meet electrical specifications
    • Research and select supplier products for assembly components
    • Establish and maintain electrical standards
    • Create electrical bills of materials
    • Power up electrical systems and configure hardware according to application specifications
    • Oversee quality assurance of assemblers and technicians during assembly
    • Collaborate with Sales Engineers to provide input for quote preparation
  • Software Development:
    • Design and develop software applications based on specifications or innovative concepts
    • Analyze client requirements for HMI/communication interfaces and develop corresponding specifications
    • Review and modify legacy code as necessary
    • Troubleshoot issues with existing systems
    • Prepare user manuals to explain the functionality of developed programs
    • Engage in technical writing, including software documentation and test plans
    • Participate in requirement reviews to ensure effective implementation of features
  • General Duties:
    • Adhere to company safety protocols and embody a culture of integrity and teamwork
    • Provide timely and detailed status updates as required
    • Ensure quality standards are upheld in a process-driven environment
    • Willingness to travel and work at customer sites as needed
    • Availability to work overtime to meet project deadlines
    • Participate in the recruitment, training, and orientation of new employees
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field (BSEE preferred)
    • 6+ years of experience in the automation sector
    • Proficient in design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks
    • Experience with PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Omron)
    • Familiarity with HMI systems configuration and design
    • Knowledge of industry standards such as UL and CE
    • Experience with various motion controllers and actuators
    • Proficient in troubleshooting control system issues
    • Preferred experience with vision system programming (e.g., Cognex, Keyence)
    • Preferred experience with robot programming (e.g., ABB, Fanuc)
