Job Summary

POWER Engineers is seeking an Environmental Planning Intern to support our Environmental Project Management/Planning Department in our Austin, Texas office. As an Environmental Planning Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in environmental constraints analysis, data collection, stakeholder meetings, and general project management tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support routing and siting studies and NEPA analysis for electric transmission and renewable energy projects
  • Assist with FERC resource reports for pipeline projects
  • Conduct environmental constraints analysis and data collection
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and public outreach
  • Assist with general project management tasks

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban or Regional Planning, Geography, Environmental Science or Management, Biology, or other related field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team and collaborative environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Interest or experience with Google Earth, ArcGIS, and GPS equipment is a plus
  • Interest or ability to do aerial imagery interpretation and understand engineering drawings and topographical maps
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good writing skills
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior internship and/or related designing, drafting, or engineering experience is a plus
