Overview:

The Critical Care Paramedic in the Emergency Department (ED) is a licensed and certified professional who plays a vital role in the hospital's patient care team. Reporting to the ED Nursing Director or Nursing Manager, the Critical Care Paramedic works collaboratively with nursing staff in a supportive capacity. Under the direct clinical supervision of a licensed physician present in the vicinity, the paramedic provides essential assistance, performs medical procedures, and is authorized to deliver advanced life support, administer medications, and conduct patient assessments based on their specialized training and expertise.

The ED is equipped to handle a diverse range of medical emergencies, providing urgent and non-urgent care to patients of all ages. Our facility is recognized as a Level 4 Trauma Center, capable of addressing various medical needs from basic care to complex trauma interventions and life-saving support. We are also a primary center for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) and Stroke care, with ongoing plans for expansion to enhance our patient treatment capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of the paramedic certification examination.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Paramedic in a 9-1-1 or hospital environment is required; three years is preferred.
  • Current certification as an EMT-P in the state of Texas.
  • Valid BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • NRP certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
