Overview:
The Emergency Department (ED) Paramedic serves as a certified and/or licensed emergency medical technician, integral to the hospital's Emergency Department patient care team. Reporting to the ED Nursing Director or Nursing Manager, the ED Paramedic collaborates effectively with nursing staff in a supportive role. Under the direct clinical supervision of the licensed physician present in the vicinity, the paramedic provides assistance, performs medical procedures, and is authorized to deliver advanced life support, administer medications, and conduct patient evaluations based on their field expertise.
The ED Paramedic plays a crucial role in assisting nursing personnel in delivering patient care in alignment with their training, competence, and skills. They are well-versed in and adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, consistently aiding the patient care team in maintaining a clean, organized, adequately stocked, and safe patient environment.
Our Emergency Department, equipped with 27 beds, is recognized as a Level 4 Trauma Center, capable of providing emergency, urgent, and non-urgent care to patients across all age groups. The department addresses a diverse range of medical needs, from basic ambulatory care to trauma intervention and life support. We are designated as a primary center for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) and Stroke care, with ongoing plans for expansion to include additional treatment rooms, as well as CT, X-Ray, and Laboratory services within the Emergency Department.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Successful completion of the paramedic examination
- A minimum of one year of experience as a Paramedic in a 9-1-1 or hospital environment is required; three years preferred.
- Current certification as an EMT-P in the state of Texas
- Valid BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certifications
- NRP certification within 90 days of hire
