CHRISTUS Children's Hospital, a pioneer in pediatric healthcare since 1959, is dedicated to serving a diverse population of children. With over 190 beds, the facility caters to more than 70,000 children each year, offering specialized services that address the unique medical needs of its patients, including advanced treatments and comprehensive emergency services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Uphold the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Facilitate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Monitor patient conditions, identify changes, and communicate findings to the RN.
• Assist in escorting stable patients to various departments as needed.
• Ensure cleanliness and readiness of medical equipment and supplies.
• Support inventory management and stock maintenance.
• Maintain proficiency in specialized procedures such as venipuncture, splinting, and nonsterile dressing changes.
• Prepare for Emergency Department procedures and assist RNs as directed.
• Operate patient monitoring devices and document relevant data under RN supervision.
• Conduct phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens as required.
• Adapt patient care methods to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations.
• Perform clerical duties under RN guidance, including order transcription and record maintenance.
• Greet patients with professionalism and ensure their comfort during the registration process.
• Adhere to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Health in all interactions.
• Execute additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
A. Education/Skills
- A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
B. Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in patient care within an acute care setting or military medic background, or an Active EMT license in lieu of experience.
C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- Current BLS certification is mandatory.
- ACLS certification is required within six months of hire for Associates at Children's & Santa Rosa.
- PALS certification is required within six months of hire for Associates at Children's & Santa Rosa.
- EMT Basic or EMT Intermediate license is preferred or required in lieu of experience.
