The institution offers specialized services including surgical care, intensive care, women's health, newborn care, cardiovascular diagnostics, emergency services, and various outpatient services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Uphold the standards of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Facilitate the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
• Monitor patient conditions, identify changes, and communicate findings to the registered nurse.
• Safely escort stable patients to different departments as necessary.
• Manage the cleaning, procurement, and return of medical equipment and supplies.
• Assist in the ordering and inventory management of stock items.
• Maintain proficiency in specialized procedures such as venipuncture, splinting, and nonsterile dressing changes.
• Prepare for emergency procedures and support the registered nurse as required.
• Operate patient monitoring devices, record data, and perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests under RN supervision.
• Conduct phlebotomy and collect laboratory samples as directed.
• Adapt patient care methods to meet the unique needs of diverse patient populations.
• Perform clerical duties under the guidance of the registered nurse, including order transcription and record maintenance.
• Greet patients with professionalism and compassion, ensuring a welcoming environment.
• Document necessary patient information accurately in the system.
• Adhere to the core values of CHRISTUS Health in all interactions.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
A. Education/Skills
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
B. Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in patient care within an acute care setting or a valid EMT license in lieu of experience.
C. Certifications
- Current BLS certification is required.
- EMT Basic or Intermediate license is preferred or required in lieu of experience.
