Emergency Services Technician

The Emergency Services Technician is a multifaceted role that encompasses various responsibilities including those of an ED Technician, Patient Registrar, Unit Clerk, and Monitor Technician. This position involves executing a range of tasks delegated by registered nurses, aimed at supporting the nursing team in delivering high-quality patient care. The technician is expected to adhere to all hospital protocols and contribute to a safe and organized patient environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit proficiency in the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Facilitate the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
- Monitor patient conditions, identify changes, and communicate findings to the nursing staff.
- Assist in transporting stable patients to various departments as necessary.
- Manage the cleaning, procurement, and return of medical equipment and supplies.
- Support inventory management by assisting with ordering and maintaining stock levels.
- Demonstrate competency in performing specialized procedures such as venipuncture, splinting, and nonsterile dressing changes.
- Prepare for emergency procedures and assist registered nurses as required.
- Operate patient monitoring devices, record data, and perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests under RN supervision.
- Conduct phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens as directed.
- Adapt patient care methods to meet the diverse needs of the patient population.
- Perform clerical duties on nursing units, including order transcription and record maintenance.
- As a Patient Registrar, greet patients warmly and ensure a smooth registration process while documenting necessary information.
- Uphold the CORE values of CHRISTUS Health in all interactions.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
1-2 years of experience in patient care within an acute care setting or military medic background, or an active EMT license in lieu of experience is required.
Current BLS certification is mandatory.
ACLS and PALS certifications are required within six months of hire for specific associates.
EMT Basic or EMT Intermediate license is preferred or required in lieu of experience.
