CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills is a comprehensive 150-bed facility catering to the rapidly expanding community of San Antonio. The hospital specializes in various services, including orthopedic and surgical care, intensive care, women's health, newborn services, and advanced cardiovascular treatments. Additional offerings include a sleep center, emergency services, and a dedicated Weight Loss Institute.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
- Monitor patient conditions, identify changes, and communicate findings to the RN.
- Escort stable patients to various departments as needed.
- Manage the cleaning, procurement, and return of medical equipment and supplies.
- Support the ordering and inventory management of stock items.
- Maintain proficiency in specialized procedures, including venipuncture, splinting, and nonsterile dressing changes.
- Prepare for Emergency Department procedures and assist RNs as directed.
- Operate patient monitoring equipment and record vital data under RN supervision.
- Collect laboratory specimens and perform phlebotomy as instructed by the RN.
- Adapt patient care methods to meet the unique needs of diverse patient populations.
- Perform clerical duties, including order transcription and record maintenance.
- As a Patient Registrar, greet patients warmly and document necessary information accurately.
- Exhibit adherence to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Health.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A. Education/Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
B. Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in patient care within an acute care setting or military medic role, or an Active EMT license in lieu of experience.
C. Certifications:
- Current BLS certification is required.
- ACLS certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
- PALS certification is also required within six months of hire.
- EMT Basic or EMT Intermediate license is preferred or required in lieu of experience.
