The Vice President of Taxation is a key executive role responsible for delivering strategic tax leadership across all tax-related operations for the organization and its subsidiaries. This position entails overseeing the preparation of tax provision calculations and necessary disclosures, ensuring adherence to tax regulations, and managing tax planning and research initiatives. The Vice President of Taxation will cultivate and sustain productive relationships with external tax advisors and internal finance and operational teams. Furthermore, this role includes representing the organization during tax audits conducted by various jurisdictions.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President of Taxation will lead a team of 25 professionals, guiding them in providing high-quality tax solutions and maintaining efficient tax processes. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring attendance in the office three days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the completion of quarterly and annual tax provisions, addressing any accounting issues as necessary.
- Direct the preparation and timely submission of federal income tax returns and state and local filings.
- Establish a process for compliance with sales tax and property tax, including the completion of returns and processing payments.
- Manage federal and state income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax audits.
- Review the tax sections of quarterly (10Q) and annual (10K) consolidated financial statements filed with the SEC, collaborating with other financial and legal departments.
- Maintain control procedures related to tax reporting, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
- Ensure tax procedures are robust and comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Lead tax planning initiatives to align with current and emerging federal and state tax legislation.
- Collaborate with various departments in responding to tax notices from federal and state jurisdictions.
- Research and implement legislative changes affecting tax functions.
- Provide tax technical guidance on compensation-related matters, particularly for employees working away from their tax homes.
- Offer tax technical advice on accountable plans.
- Oversee all tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax considerations.
- Provide tax advice to internal stakeholders, considering all business and operational factors.

- Technical expertise in U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 740 and ASC 450, along with a strong accounting background in federal and state income, sales, and compensation tax.
- Ability to provide context-specific tax advice considering business and operational nuances.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with over 10 years of relevant experience.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Experience in Big 4 firms and corporate tax departments.
- Proven track record in completing quarterly tax provisions.
- Experience in leading tax planning initiatives in line with current legislation.
- Experience managing tax audit and compliance programs in public organizations.
- Work is conducted in an office/home office setting.

Compensation: $248,000 - $295,000
Final compensation is based on experience, training, education, and location.
