About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Services Liaison to join our team at Hospital for Special Surgery. As a key member of our service excellence team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a supportive, informative, and comfortable environment for patients, their families, and loved ones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Communication: Collaborate with patients, families, hospital staff, physicians, and volunteers to ensure seamless communication and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Monitor Patient Progress: Track patients' progress from the Atrium to Holding and from the operating room through the recovery room, providing non-medical information and assistance to waiting families.
  • Enhance Patient Experience: Partner with the interdisciplinary team to enhance the patient and family experience through enhanced service and amenities.
  • Document Concerns and Issues: Keep documentation on family's and visitors' complaints and concerns about care and services.
  • Coordinate Service Recovery: Identify resources needed to manage current and future family/patient volume, coordinate service recovery efforts in coordination with service excellence staff, nursing staff, and patient advocates.
  • Conduct Rounds: Conduct rounds as needed to ensure patients and visitors in the Atrium and on patient floors are comfortable.
  • Provide Assistance and Comfort: Provide assistance and comfort to patients and families as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Staff: Collaborate with nursing staff to identify patients who may need immediate assistance.
  • Assist with Transition: Assist patients and families during transition to in-patient or other surgical floors.
  • Coordinate Volunteer Onboarding: Coordinate the on-boarding process and daily functions of the volunteers, including mentoring and training.
  • Ensure Coverage: Ensure coverage at all times, creating and maintaining a schedule for back-up support.
Requirements
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in healthcare, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Communication Skills: Superior oral, written, and non-verbal communication skills, with the ability to forge and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of resolving issues through innovative problem-solving and solution development.
  • Education: Minimum High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree highly desirable.
