Chief Medical Officer

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as a vital leader within the Veterans Health Administration, reporting directly to the Medical Center Director. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CMO is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, ensuring that Veterans receive high-quality care while prioritizing patient safety and access to services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for clinical services, focusing on quality improvement and patient satisfaction.
- Engage in the management of organizational resources and performance enhancement initiatives.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to establish performance benchmarks and implement effective policies.
- Guide the organized medical staff, ensuring compliance with established bylaws and regulations.
- Mentor and supervise healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Participate in various committees and task forces to address clinical challenges at local and national levels.
- Ensure that all regulatory and accreditation standards are met consistently.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and mission alignment of the organization.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
- Completion of residency training in an accredited specialty program.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
