VA Careers - Psychologist:

Duties to include:
Provides a full range of psychological assessment services and diagnoses mental disorders.
Provides education to patients, family members, and significant others.
Provides comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.

Provides consultation to professional staff within VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients.

May assist the Chief of Psychology and BH SLM in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs for a team of treatment providers.

May assist the Chief of Psychology and BHSLM in the execution of ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of the clinical program.

Facilitates liaisons with other health care programs in order to effectively coordinate services.
Attends and participates in administrative, staff, and informational meetings.
May provide discipline-specific clinical consultation and clinical supervision for psychology students, interns, residents.
May support discipline-specific training program and training committee.
May support the training of medical students, medical and psychiatric residents, nursing students and fellows.
May provide leadership, guidance, and consultation on staff education and development.
Serves on Medical Center or healthcare system, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces.

Represents the Medical Center at professional community group/events and committees, in conferences/meetings with higher ranking managers, supervisors, and staff from other disciplines or work units, and/or with representatives of local public interest groups, congressional district offices and employees of State and local governments.

Prepares Issue Briefs and responses to Congressional inquiries as needed.

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases.

When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).


Paid Time Off:
37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Parental Leave:


After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.


Child Care Subsidy:


After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.
