Position Overview

The Department is currently looking for seasonal positions of 1403 Elections Clerk, specifically for Logic and Accuracy Testing and Proofing Coordinators. These coordinators will play a vital role in assisting the Polling Place Operations Division with various election-related tasks, including testing, validating, monitoring, and tracking reports generated by voting equipment. The primary work location will be at the Department's warehouse.

In addition to the responsibilities associated with the 1403 job code, the selected candidate will support the Polling Place Operations Manager by overseeing clerks and junior clerks in their assigned duties. Key responsibilities include:

  • Staging and testing voting equipment, with the ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Operating equipment and conducting necessary tests and maintenance.
  • Collaborating with vendors of voting equipment.
  • Entering data into computer systems.
  • Proofreading reports to ensure complete accuracy.
  • Managing and organizing reports and documentation.
  • Performing equipment management tasks, including labeling and tagging.
  • Validating, monitoring, and tracking various reports.
  • Providing general administrative and clerical support.
  • Assisting with inventory management, assembly, and supply organization.
  • Supporting tasks at various locations as needed.

Work Schedule, Requirements, and Location

This is a seasonal role, with the start date dependent on the completion of the hiring process. The Department aims to fill this position promptly. The role will conclude approximately in mid-November, with the exact end date determined by operational needs.

Work hours will vary based on the election cycle, ranging from 20 to 60 hours per week. Most work is expected to occur during standard business hours, but flexibility may be required to meet operational demands. Employees should be prepared to work overtime during the week and on weekends as necessary, with overtime compensated at a higher rate.

The work environment is primarily in a warehouse setting, which may have limited temperature control, and could involve offsite duties. Employees may encounter varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, fumes, and odors.

This is a temporary exempt position. Temporary exempt employees who have worked more than 1040 hours in any consecutive 12-month period, and whose normal work week is at least 20 hours, are eligible for health coverage and retirement benefits. Salary Range

$69,186 to $84,084 annually

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess two (2) years (equivalent to 4000 hours) of verifiable clerical experience, which includes maintaining a variety of records and documents, engaging in public contact, and gathering information.

Substitution: Completion of a clerical training program (240 hours) or the equivalent of 15 units of coursework from an accredited institution may substitute for up to 6 months of clerical experience.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with voting equipment and system report proofreading.
  • Proficiency in inventory tracking and scanning systems.
  • Strong data entry skills.
