Job Overview
Position Summary
In preparation for upcoming elections, the Department is inviting applications for temporary roles as logic and accuracy testers. These positions will assist the Polling Place Operations Division with various electoral tasks, including validating, monitoring, and tracking reports generated by voting systems, as well as performing routine maintenance on the equipment. The primary work location will be at the Department's designated warehouse.
In addition to the standard responsibilities associated with this role, the selected candidates will be tasked with the following duties:
- Setting up and testing voting equipment, which may involve lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Operating voting systems and executing testing and maintenance protocols
- Inputting data into a computer database
- Ensuring reports are proofread with complete accuracy
- Organizing and archiving reports and documentation
- Labeling and tagging equipment appropriately
- Providing general administrative support
- Assisting with additional warehouse operations, including inventory management and assembly tasks
- Supporting other election-related activities, which may require travel to different locations
Position Schedule, Requirements, and Work Environment
This is a temporary position, with the start date dependent on the completion of the hiring process. The Department aims to finalize selections in a timely manner. The role will conclude approximately two weeks after the election, with the exact end date determined by operational needs.
Work hours will fluctuate based on the election cycle demands, ranging from 20 to 60 hours per week. Most work is expected to occur during standard business hours, but flexibility may be required to meet operational needs. Employees should be prepared to work overtime during the week and on weekends as necessary, with overtime compensated at a premium rate.
The work environment is primarily within the warehouse, which may have limited climate control, but could also involve offsite responsibilities. Employees may encounter varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, fumes, and odors.
This is a temporary exempt position. Employees who have worked more than 1040 hours in any consecutive 12-month period and whose regular work week is at least 20 hours are eligible for health coverage and retirement benefits. Position Salary: Hourly Rate
$62,426 to $75,868 annually
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of one year of clerical experience, which includes maintaining various records and documents, filing, utilizing office equipment, engaging with the public, and processing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Substitution: Completion of an approved clerical training program or relevant coursework may substitute for up to six months of the required experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with operating voting systems, reviewing voting reports, inventory management using scanning technology, and data entry.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, maintain focus on tasks, multitask effectively, adapt to changes in schedule, and operate office equipment including scanners and computers.
