POSITION SUMMARY


The Patient Services Specialist 1 plays a crucial role in providing administrative assistance within a healthcare setting, ensuring a seamless experience for patients and promoting high-quality, patient-focused care.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilitates patient interactions, including check-in and check-out processes, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance details, and managing phone communications.

Coordinates follow-up visits and referral appointments to enhance patient care continuity.

Handles patient registration tasks by gathering and confirming insurance information, ensuring accurate patient demographics, and updating records in the system. Directs patients to designated waiting areas.

Processes payments for services rendered in accordance with established protocols.

Records payments and inputs charges into the system using the correct coding practices.

Generates daily financial reports and reconciles cash drawers with reported figures.

Provides precise information regarding patient, medical, financial, or procedural inquiries to patients and authorized external parties.

May engage in discussions regarding financial arrangements with patients as necessary.

Receives and routes incoming calls, assisting patients and visitors effectively.

Addresses routine questions related to practice services and operational hours.

Ensures that patient concerns are managed with care and professionalism.

Assists with medical record management as needed.

Strong listening, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written), along with a professional and courteous phone demeanor.

Ability to adjust communication style to meet the needs of diverse audiences. Empathetic, optimistic, articulate, and tactful in interactions.

Proficient in assessing requests and utilizing both electronic and paper resources to address patient inquiries accurately.

Capable of maintaining composure and professionalism when assisting distressed patients.

Exceptional data entry, numerical, typing, and computer navigation skills, with a keen attention to detail.

Adept at thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced, and sometimes stressful environment.
