We are currently seeking a Patient Care Advocate and Quality Assurance Coordinator. This role is essential in ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care while upholding their rights. The advocate will engage with patients and their families, addressing concerns and facilitating resolutions proactively from the moment of admission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communication: Keep patients and their families informed about the status of complaints and grievances.
  • Documentation: Record patient complaints and grievances, taking appropriate steps to resolve issues.
  • Resolution Facilitation: Assist patients and families in communicating their concerns to the relevant department leaders and help develop satisfactory resolutions.
  • Complaint Management: Maintain a comprehensive log of all complaints and grievances.
  • Collaboration: Direct unresolved complaints to appropriate medical staff or department leaders.
  • Reporting: Notify Quality/Risk Management of ongoing issues and potential legal matters, ensuring follow-up on outcomes.
  • Confidentiality: Safeguard patient and family confidentiality regarding complaints and grievances.
  • Quality Improvement: Collect and analyze performance improvement data for regular reporting to the Quality Improvement committee.
  • Process Enhancement: Evaluate and refine patient complaint processes to reduce recurrence of issues.
  • Professional Development: Engage in educational opportunities to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Social Media Monitoring: Review online platforms to address any complaints or grievances posted.
  • Compliance: Adhere to professional standards and hospital policies, as well as federal and state regulations.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years in a behavioral health care setting.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of the emotional and social factors affecting patient health.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Licensure: Valid driver’s license required.
  • Certifications: CPR certification and Handle With Care Training to be completed within the first month of employment.
