We are currently seeking a Healthcare Quality Coordinator and Patient Support Specialist. This role is pivotal in ensuring that patients' rights are upheld while providing essential support and guidance throughout their treatment journey. The specialist will engage with patients and their families, addressing concerns, resolving issues, and maintaining open lines of communication from the moment of admission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain ongoing communication with patients and their families regarding complaints and grievances.
  • Document and address patient and family concerns effectively, ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Facilitate communication between patients and relevant department leaders to develop satisfactory outcomes.
  • Keep a detailed log of all complaints and grievances for review and action.
  • Lead the resolution process by coordinating with medical staff and department heads.
  • Notify Quality/Risk Management of unresolved issues and potential legal implications.
  • Prepare and submit required documentation in response to grievances within specified timeframes.
  • Safeguard patient confidentiality regarding complaints and grievances.
  • Compile and analyze performance improvement data for regular reporting to the Quality Improvement committee.
  • Enhance service quality by reviewing and refining complaint handling processes.
  • Engage in professional development through educational opportunities and networking.
  • Monitor social media for patient feedback and ensure appropriate responses are made.
  • Adhere to all professional standards and regulatory requirements to protect the hospital community.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Patient Advocacy:

  • Recognize and differentiate between grievances and complaints, addressing each according to established regulations.

Quality Coordination:

  • Conduct daily rounds to gather Incident Reports and Patient Satisfaction feedback.
  • Input all incident reports into the Quality Converge System for tracking and analysis.
  • Compile Patient Satisfaction and Outcome data for reporting purposes.
  • Provide monthly summaries to senior management regarding patient satisfaction metrics.

Medical Supply Management:

  • Establish and maintain inventory levels for medical supplies in central and unit-specific areas.
  • Conduct weekly inventories of medical supplies to ensure availability.
  • Order and restock medical supplies as necessary to meet patient care needs.
  • Ensure timely restocking of central supply areas following deliveries.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of the emotional and social factors impacting patient health.
  • Effective time management skills to meet established objectives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in behavioral health care within a hospital environment is required.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
  • CPR certification and Handle With Care Training (HWC) must be obtained within the first month of employment.
