Job Title Overview

As the Manager of Statutory Accounting at Pekin Insurance, you will be instrumental in ensuring adherence to statutory accounting standards and regulations. Your role will encompass supervising the organization’s statutory reporting processes, financial statements, and disclosures to align with evolving standards and legal requirements. With a keen eye for detail and a comprehensive understanding of statutory responsibilities, you will serve both the property & casualty and life insurance sectors with accuracy and expertise. Furthermore, you will cultivate a culture of innovation and efficiency, actively pursuing opportunities to enhance processes and practices for the organization's success and competitiveness.

Main Responsibilities

Oversight of Statutory Reporting:

  • Prepare and submit statutory financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensure timely and precise reporting to regulatory authorities and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review and finalize audit reports and financial disclosures in accordance with regulatory principles.
Management of Financial Compliance:
  • Stay informed on statutory accounting standards and regulations, implementing robust policies and internal controls.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with reporting standards and identify areas for enhancement.
Financial Analysis and Insights:
  • Examine financial data to identify trends, variances, and risks.
  • Prepare tailored reports for management and regulatory bodies to provide valuable insights for informed decision-making.
Governance of Internal Controls:
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls for financial reporting.
  • Monitor adherence to internal control procedures and recommend improvements for operational efficiency.
  • Perform assigned duties with diligence.
Educational Background & Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, preferably within the insurance industry.
  • Leadership experience of at least 4 years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Workday.
Certifications & Licenses
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
