Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is tasked with delivering precise and timely financial data to management, auditors, and regulatory bodies while addressing the needs of both internal and external stakeholders. This role also involves guiding others in applying suitable accounting practices, requiring discretion and independent judgment when handling complex and sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting processes to meet reporting obligations.
  • Respond to inquiries from management, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare, review, and file necessary regulatory documents.
  • Draft responses for requests from external auditors and regulatory authorities.
  • Generate various analytical reports as required by management throughout the fiscal year.
  • Support the preparation and review of departmental responsibilities.
  • Assist colleagues in Accounting with financial issues and special projects.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to Accounting staff.
  • Execute bank reconciliations.
  • Analyze and balance statistical accounts related to losses, premiums, reserves, and reinsurance.
  • Serve as the primary contact for managing interim and annual audits with external auditors.
  • Oversee and balance the company's business assets.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Preferred qualifications include Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or relevant insurance designations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proven ability to:
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Analyze, consolidate, and interpret financial data.
  • Read and interpret accounting and technical literature, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Plan, assign, and supervise the work of others.
Demonstrated skills in:
  • Situational analysis and sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Filing, bookkeeping, and computational tasks.
Comprehensive knowledge of:
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • ERP Systems (Workday preferred).
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience with Workday & Adaptive Planning.
  • Familiarity with Statutory Accounting.
