Position Overview

The role involves delivering direct services to the school community, including:

  • Crisis intervention and behavior management to facilitate students' return to the classroom and enhance their ability to meet the school's expectations.
  • Individual and group counseling (both school-based and mandated).
  • Identifying and training staff to recognize students and families who may benefit from counseling services.
  • Developing and implementing curricula focused on social and emotional development/intervention.
  • Referring, monitoring, and evaluating individuals and families for external resources and services.
  • Managing records, documentation, and compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a Case Manager and a member of the Child Study Team.
  • Enhance parent and family engagement.
  • Design and implement school-based interventions in collaboration with educators.
  • Partner with community agencies and resources.
  • Assist students and families with learning, behavior, and attendance challenges while fostering partnerships among home, school, and community.
  • Assess students' personal and family histories, socio-economic, and cultural contexts.
  • Evaluate the interplay of factors within the home, community, and school affecting a student's social and academic adjustment.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the school's systems and culture.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Address family concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development.
  • Participate in comprehensive staff orientation and training.
  • Share responsibilities for school-wide activities.
  • Fulfill necessary duties for the orderly functioning of the school.
  • Engage in events outside of regular school hours.
  • Collaborate with teachers in planning meetings and professional development activities.
  • Adhere to policies and standards outlined in the Faculty & Staff Handbook.
  • Demonstrate alignment with Uncommon's core values and educational philosophy.
  • Exhibit a relentless drive to enhance the lives and minds of students.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work (Required).
  • Valid School Social Worker Certification from NJDOE (Required).
  • Commitment to improving students' lives both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Proven track record of high achievement.
  • Self-motivated and a collaborative team player.
  • Experience in urban school settings is highly preferred.

Compensation

The compensation for this position typically ranges from $56,000 to $60,000, with starting salaries between $56,000 and $77,000, depending on various factors such as relevant experience, education, certifications, and tenure.

We value staff tenure and do not cap salary ranges for current employees.
