Position Summary
As a Space Operations Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in supporting Millennium's proprietary ground software and mission control systems, along with industry-standard commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products. You will serve as a vital link between mission stakeholders and the Flight Software component, ultimately interfacing with the Space Vehicle itself. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, integrating, testing, and delivering comprehensive software and hardware solutions for a diverse clientele, to be implemented at both Millennium's facilities and client-operated locations. You will also contribute to proposal development efforts aimed at securing new business opportunities. Your involvement will span the entire ground development process, from the initial contract phase through design reviews, culminating in the launch day. Post-launch, you will maintain your systems throughout the program's lifecycle, ensuring continued mission success.
Key Responsibilities
- Define requirements for ground software and systems
- Engage directly with clients to ensure that developed software and systems align with mission objectives
- Design, develop, integrate, test, and deliver large-scale ground software and mission control systems
- Collaborate with other Millennium personnel to facilitate testing on components, subsystems, and spacecraft in various configurations
- Integrate Millennium software applications with Government-furnished software and infrastructure
- Conduct integrated system test events connecting Millennium-developed products with Government-furnished systems
- Implement specific mission data processing applications into existing systems to support payloads and end users
- Provide support for ground software and systems during on-orbit activities, including launch, early operations, on-orbit testing, normal operations, and end-of-life procedures
- Assist in proposals for new ground software and systems to support business development
- Facilitate software testing and installation in classified environments
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- Two (2) or more years of experience in designing and developing ground software and systems
- Proven experience in writing software applications using Python, C++, and C
- Experience with relational databases
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical details
- Familiarity with iterative and agile software development methodologies
- Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- Active TS/SCI clearance
