Job Title: Staff Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team at HEI Hotels & Resorts. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial accuracy and integrity of our hotel operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Controller in directing the financial activities of the hotel, safeguarding assets, and preparing financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and HEI Hotels and Resorts standards.
  • Sort and verify the accuracy of Night Audit work, including reconciliation of banquet check extensions, coding of banquets at cost, review and routing of sales and promotion checks with backup.
  • Post city ledger payments in the property management system, reconcile and bill all city ledger accounts, and perform follow-up billing and credit collection documentation.
  • Reconcile credit card back-up to General Cashier Summary and inform the Controller of any discrepancies.
  • Set up new accounts in accordance with established credit policy and assist in reconciling open account status items.
  • Input General Cashier Summary and maintain a binder, file and distribute credit card cancellations, bulletins, and credit warnings, and process and follow-up on all returned checks accepted as cash payment.
  • Verify that purchasing procedures are followed, maintain an accurate and up-to-date Purchase Order Log, and route invoices with purchase orders attached to department heads and Executive Committee members for approval.
  • Process all approved invoices for payment, ensure all appropriate signatures and backup are attached, and pay all hotel invoices in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy of amount paid, account coding, invoice extension, and that all discounts are taken.
  • Handle all vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor statements, maintain open invoices, paid invoices, and voided check files in an organized and up-to-date manner, and interface checks and submit a log of all manual checks to the Controller.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis, and perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Accounting and hotel experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to compile facts and figures.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and calculator.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
