Position Summary:
The Value Engineer plays a crucial role in the strategic development of our supply network and the management of costs associated with our product hardware throughout their lifecycle. This position involves collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct supplier selection for specific products, utilizing our approved supplier list.
2. Collaborate with strategic suppliers to expedite product development through:
    a. Concept scoping to define requirements swiftly.
    b. Feature trade-off analysis and trade tables.
    c. Should cost and clean sheet modeling.
    d. Joint design development with clear statements of work.
3. Drive the creation and consolidation of a manufacturing Bill of Materials (BOM), working closely with Quality and Manufacturing to ensure flexible production scaling.
4. Oversee all New Product Introduction (NPI) component procurement, ensuring timely and accurate scaling.
5. Manage capital expenditures throughout the NPI process.
6. Perform value-stream mapping to enhance supply network lead times and flexibility.
7. Complete BOM risk assessments, including alternative component sourcing.
8. Ensure all component qualifications are finalized prior to production.

Complexity Reduction:
- Optimize commonality and rationalize components/suppliers.
- Lead cost engineering initiatives to align the bottoms-up cost curve with product costs, maximizing total cost of ownership (TCO) across the product lifecycle.
- Address ad-hoc cost issues, including tariffs, import/export costs, and inflation.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, ideally with a background in:
    a. Design and development of electronic and/or mechanical devices.
    b. Advanced sourcing activities, including roles as commodity/sourcing managers.
    c. Early supplier engagement prior to product/engineering requirement realization.
- Domain expertise in value/procurement engineering or TCO-related work at both component and product levels.
- Familiarity with developing high-tech products in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
- Experience in a start-up environment is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (BSME, BSEE) or a related technical field; advanced technical degree or MBA preferred.
- U.S. Person status is required for access to export-controlled data.
