POSITION SUMMARY

The Fire Safety Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing fire alarm solutions tailored to client needs by selecting the appropriate mix of hardware, software, equipment, and services from our extensive product offerings. The goal is to provide maximum value to our clients while aligning with their overall business strategies.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional operational expertise. This role emphasizes being the primary technical resource within the organization, supporting various projects and upgrades to ensure successful delivery. A strong commitment to safety and client satisfaction is essential. Candidates should be adept at conveying technical concepts and solutions to both internal teams and external clients, which includes conducting site assessments, thoroughly reviewing specifications, and identifying potential opportunities, risks, and necessary resources throughout the proposal process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support project managers in the execution of project deliverables, including financial management, scheduling, and adherence to contractual commitments.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals across various disciplines.
  • Assist in pricing change orders for items outside the original scope and suggest enhancements.
  • Provide forecasting support for project labor requirements.
  • Coordinate efforts with internal teams, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Maintain responsibility for project updates to project managers.
  • Participate in job meetings as directed by project managers.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, or 5 years of practical experience in fire alarm systems, including design and/or installation.
  • Relevant certifications and/or programming experience with: EST-3, EST-4, or equivalent Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Active NICET IV or PE certification, with the ability to stamp plans in the state.
  • Proficiency in fire alarm systems, including voice evacuation and mass notification systems.
  • Familiarity with current NFPA, IFC, IBC, and other pertinent codes related to fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Fire Alarm Design, and Programming is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
  • Skill in understanding customer needs and providing cost-effective solutions.
  • Experience with hand tools, testing equipment, and digital multimeters for troubleshooting purposes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to fulfill project requirements.
  • Some overnight travel may be necessary.
