The Senior Project Architect will engage frequently with high-level representatives of both existing and potential clients. This role entails overseeing all aspects of client relations, ensuring project team performance, and maintaining overall client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills combined with a confident yet approachable demeanor. Articulate communication and outstanding presentation abilities are essential. Reporting directly to the Managing Principal, the Senior Project Architect will collaborate closely to guarantee that projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and adhere to PBK's quality and service standards.
Your Contribution:
The Senior Project Architect will play a pivotal role in refining and executing the strategic initiatives across the region, contributing to the expansion of the firm's consulting divisions. PBK's corporate resources and management team will be available to support the Senior Project Architect in achieving these objectives. This position will ultimately be accountable for service delivery, nurturing the company culture, and collaborating with the management team to uphold established policies and procedures.
The Senior Project Architect will oversee client relations, ensuring project teams meet performance expectations and client satisfaction. Responsibilities include verifying that projects align with contractual agreements, meeting program requirements, budgets, and clearly defined team goals. This role involves supervising various staff members to produce high-quality documentation that meets all project phase deliverables.
Additionally, the Senior Project Architect will coordinate building envelope consulting and sub-consulting teams to execute tasks efficiently and cohesively. Familiarity with all consultant roles on specific projects is crucial. Establishing and nurturing relationships with prospective clients is a key responsibility. Collaboration with the firm's Marketing and Business Development departments will be essential for identifying new opportunities and fostering relationships.
Maintaining positive client relationships throughout the project lifecycle is vital, with regular updates on project progress. The Senior Project Architect will initiate and sustain communication with other key project stakeholders to clarify, coordinate, and negotiate critical issues. Promoting a supportive environment for staff development is also a priority, alongside overseeing the recruitment of new talent to enhance an already skilled team.
Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary for assigning tasks to office support staff, consultants, and vendors respectfully. Experience in leading meetings and presentations for clients is required. The ability to make informed decisions, demonstrate sound judgment, and include relevant stakeholders in the decision-making process is essential.
This role will also involve directing, organizing, and mentoring junior staff, ensuring oversight of their assignments. Familiarity with construction administration in the region, along with a solid understanding of project costs, procurement, and project phasing, is expected. The Senior Project Architect will guide the project team and clients regarding the scheduling of phased projects.
Providing leadership, resources, and technical guidance for the creation of construction documents, including detailing and finish applications, is a critical aspect of this role. Occasional travel may be required. Participation in professional organizations relevant to our clients is encouraged, and the Senior Project Architect will be recognized as a leader in the field of Educational Architecture.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Architecture is required, with a Master's degree preferred. A minimum of 15 years of experience in the architectural field is necessary, including at least 5 years of experience with DSA. Familiarity with LEED is strongly preferred. Prior experience in K-12 and/or Higher Education and/or Civic projects is essential. Registration as an Architect is mandatory.
