Position Overview
In collaboration with Clinical Management and interdisciplinary teams, this role is pivotal in assessing the educational requirements of both clinical and non-clinical personnel. The incumbent will engage in the design and implementation of educational curricula, ensuring alignment with the latest research and best practices in nursing education.

Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct thorough assessments to identify the educational needs of staff.
2. Develop and deliver comprehensive curricula tailored to specific groups, encompassing both theoretical instruction and practical clinical experiences.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs through analysis of participation metrics, feedback, and assessments.
4. Facilitate workshops aimed at the professional advancement of nursing staff.
5. Provide orientation and training for staff at all levels, supervising their learning experiences.
6. Serve as a role model for nursing and healthcare professionals by exemplifying and teaching professional conduct.
7. Participate in and deliver accredited continuing education programs to enhance nursing competencies.
8. Maintain accurate records of participation in educational initiatives and prepare necessary reports.
9. Uphold the human and civil rights of patients, clients, and staff throughout all educational activities.
10. Engage in committee work and recruitment processes as needed.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred. If not yet obtained, the candidate must enroll in an accredited program within six months and provide ongoing verification of academic progress.

Experience: A minimum of five years in an acute care environment is required for candidates without a completed Bachelor’s degree. Teaching experience in nursing for at least two years is also necessary.

Licenses/Certifications: A current registered nurse license in New Mexico is mandatory. Candidates with a Bachelor’s in Nursing and a Master’s in Nursing, Education, Business, or a related field may substitute the RN license. ANCC certification in Nursing Continuing Education/Staff Development is preferred. BLS certification is required, with BLS instructor certification recommended within six months of hire.

Skills: Strong knowledge of nursing principles and practices, foundational teaching and evaluation techniques, leadership abilities, and excellent communication skills are essential. Candidates should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks independently and collaboratively.


Work Environment
This position involves exposure to patient care settings approximately 70% of the time, with the remaining 30% in general office or classroom environments. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet educational needs.

Physical Requirements
The role necessitates intermittent physical activity, including walking, standing, and lifting educational materials as needed for training sessions.
