Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Education Specialist to join our team at Christus Health. As a key member of our Clinical Education department, you will play a critical role in developing and coordinating clinical development curricula and competencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with Clinical Management and Nurse Professional Development Practitioners to design and implement clinical development curricula and competencies.
  • Staff Education: Oversee the assessment and implementation of clinical staff educational needs, ensuring that all personnel receive the necessary training to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Research and Evidence-Based Practice: Facilitate a research environment that fosters evidence-based practices, driving continuous improvement in patient care and safety.
  • Continuing Education: Plan, design, and administer continuing education programs for healthcare personnel, focusing on improving patient care quality and safety.
Requirements
  • Education: Master of Science in Nursing required, or enrollment in a Master's Program within the first year of hire with completion of the degree program within 3 years.
  • Certification/Licenses: Current New Mexico registered nurse license required, ANCC certification in Nursing Continuing Education/Staff development preferred within 2 years. BLS certification required with BLS instructor certification necessary within 6 months of hire.
  • Skills: Considerable knowledge of nursing principles and practices in the appropriate specialty, basic knowledge of teaching, counseling, and evaluation principles, basic leadership abilities, high degree of self-confidence, self-motivation, and detail-orientation, effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize tasks, work independently and as part of a team, and maintain confidentiality, basic computer, research, and data management skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Healthstream.
  • Experience: With MSN: One year teaching experience in nursing and two years as an RN in acute care. Without MSN: Minimum three years teaching experience in nursing or one year teaching experience in nursing and three years in acute care.
  • Substitutions Allowed: Teaching experience may be unit-based or clinical ladder-based.
  • Nature of Supervision: Responsible to Manager, Clinical Education.
  • Environment: Physical Requirements: Intermittent physical effort including walking, standing, sitting, lifting, and handling educational equipment and supplies. Flexible scheduling required.
