Position Overview:
In collaboration with clinical leadership and interdisciplinary teams, this role involves assessing the educational requirements of both clinical and non-clinical personnel. The practitioner will engage in the design and implementation of educational programs, ensuring the latest research and information are integrated into the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and deliver educational content to specific groups, encompassing both theoretical instruction and practical clinical experiences.
2. Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs through analysis of participation, feedback, and assessments.
3. Facilitate workshops aimed at advancing the careers of nursing staff.
4. Provide orientation and training for staff at all levels, supervising their learning experiences.
5. Serve as a role model for nursing and healthcare personnel by exemplifying professional behaviors.
6. Participate in and deliver accredited continuing education programs to enhance professional skills.
7. Maintain accurate records of participation in educational initiatives and prepare necessary reports.
8. Uphold the human and civil rights of patients, clients, and staff.
9. Engage in committee work and assist in recruitment efforts as needed.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred. If not obtained, enrollment in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is required within six months.
- A minimum of five years of experience in an acute care environment is necessary for candidates without a completed Bachelor’s degree.
Licenses/Certifications:
- A current registered nurse license in New Mexico is mandatory. A Bachelor's in Nursing with a Master's in Nursing, Education, Business, or a related field may substitute for the RN license.
- ANCC certification in Nursing Continuing Education/Staff Development is preferred.
- BLS certification is required, with BLS instructor certification recommended within six months of hire.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of nursing principles and practices within the relevant specialty.
- Basic understanding of teaching, counseling, and evaluation methods.
- Leadership capabilities, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and effective communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality.
- Proficient in basic computer skills, research, and data management.
Experience:
- Two years of teaching experience in nursing and five years as a registered nurse in an acute care setting are required.
Supervision:
- Reports to the Manager of Organizational Development.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to patient care settings and general office or classroom environments.
Physical Requirements:
- Involves intermittent physical activities such as walking, standing, and patient care tasks, along with occasional lifting and moving of educational materials. Flexibility in scheduling is essential.
