Position: Scorekeeper
Department: Hockey Operations
Reports to: Lead Scorekeeper
Location: Sharks Ice San Jose
Employment Status: Part-time, Non-exempt
Compensation: $20.00 per hour
Position Overview:
The Scorekeeper is tasked with maintaining accurate records for both adult and youth hockey matches.
Work Schedule:
- Availability to work a minimum of two-thirds of scheduled events each month, including weekends. Most shifts will occur during evenings and weekends, with some holidays included.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain precise statistics as required by the league and tournaments, along with necessary data entry.
- Utilize league-provided scoring systems and documentation.
- Possess a thorough understanding of league rules and ensure compliance by officials and players.
- Engage with on-ice officials regarding game situations and player eligibility.
- Report significant incidents occurring on and off the ice to the adult hockey manager promptly.
- Oversee player roster compliance and check-in procedures.
- Monitor player suspension lists and communicate relevant suspensions to officials.
- Deliver exceptional customer service consistently and ensure adherence to all policies.
- Be familiar with emergency protocols for equipment and evacuation procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness within the scorekeeper and player boxes.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must wear the assigned uniform during all shifts.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and late nights.
- Basic understanding of ice hockey rules and knowledge is essential.
- Competence in using the required computer systems for game administration.
- Capability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a cold environment.
