Compensation: $19.75 per hour

Role Overview:

The Off-Ice Official plays a crucial role in the execution of a professional hockey event, serving as a vital extension of the AHL on-ice officiating team. While these officials are compensated by the home organization, they operate under the authority of the League Office. Each Off-Ice Official may have a designated role throughout the season, yet it is essential for all team members to possess a comprehensive understanding of the various operational positions, including Supervisor, Official Scorer, Real-Time Scorer (RTSS), Game Timekeeper, Penalty Timekeeper, Video Review Assistant, Goal Judge (x2), and Penalty Box Attendant (x2), and to be capable of performing these roles as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an extension of the on-ice officiating team.
  • Maintain a professional and impartial demeanor that reflects the values of the AHL.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the Off-Ice Officials Manual and the AHL Rule Book.
  • Ensure accurate filing of all final statistics in accordance with AHL regulations.
  • Execute game-night duties as assigned by the supervisor in alignment with the AHL Off-Ice Manual.
  • Timely distribution of Official AHL Forms (Official Game Report, Penalty List Summary, Rosters, Game Statistics) to relevant parties before, during, and after the event.
  • Record live game statistics using the Real-Time Scoring System (RTSS), enabling real-time data visibility, managing the automatic clock for players and spectators, overseeing the penalty time clock, confirming goal validity, and tracking shots and plus/minus statistics.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive understanding of all off-ice official responsibilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the AHL Rule Book.
  • Ability to perform tasks swiftly and efficiently.
  • Capability to read, interpret, and comprehend AHL playing rules, bulletins, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment with exceptional focus and concentration.
  • Positive and enthusiastic interaction with colleagues, fostering a respectful work atmosphere.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, bend, reach overhead, twist, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 25 lbs. with or without accommodation.
  • Physical capability to navigate stairs, ticketing areas, entrance gates, and seating zones at SSE facilities during regular work hours and events with or without accommodation.
