Position Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is looking for a dedicated Research Laboratory Technician 2 to join our team in the field of cellular biology. This role is integral to our ongoing research initiatives aimed at unraveling the complexities of brain development, both in typical and atypical scenarios.

Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will engage in a variety of experimental procedures, employing techniques such as molecular biology, mouse genetics, cell culture, immunocytochemistry, and microscopy. Collaboration with the Principal Investigator and fellow team members will be essential to support our NIH-funded projects focused on neural stem cell division and the role of cytoskeletal proteins in cellular dynamics.

Laboratory Maintenance:
The technician will oversee essential laboratory functions, including:
- Maintenance of mouse colonies
- Genotyping and supply management
- Preparation of stock solutions
- Equipment upkeep
- Training of new personnel
- Ensuring compliance with environmental health and safety regulations.

Data Management:
The role requires proficiency in data analysis, including statistical evaluation, meticulous record-keeping, and effective data presentation.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Associate's degree
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years in a laboratory setting, which may include academic experience. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline may substitute for experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field, with a preference for candidates who have majored or minored in biomedical sciences.
- Familiarity with techniques such as PCR, Molecular Biology, Microscopy, Tissue Sectioning, Cell Culture, Immunoblotting, and Animal Husbandry is advantageous.
