About the Position

The Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Pharmacology at the University of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Research and Development Technician to join our team. As a Research and Development Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our research efforts in understanding the mechanisms of immune cells and their role in host defense, inflammation, and tissue homeostasis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct experiments and data analysis to support research projects
  • Develop and implement new laboratory techniques and protocols
  • Collaborate with research scientists and other laboratory staff to achieve research goals
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments and data
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new research projects
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • At least 1 year of laboratory experience; Bachelor's degree in a related field may be considered in lieu of experience
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • College-level training in physical or life sciences
  • 2 years of laboratory experience
Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Additionally, the position requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
