Commonwealth of Virginia - Laboratory Technician in Pediatric Research

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our team focused on advancing pediatric research initiatives. This role is essential for supporting innovative projects aimed at improving health outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting experimental procedures, including the isolation and modification of human T cells, as well as maintaining various tumor cell lines through advanced cellular and molecular biology techniques.
  • Overseeing mouse colonies and performing tumor-related experiments in a controlled environment.
  • Systematically organizing and documenting research data, engaging in discussions about findings, and maintaining accurate laboratory records.
  • Supporting laboratory operations, which include ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, managing inventory, and preparing necessary laboratory reagents.
Required Qualifications:
  • **Laboratory Technician Level 1:**
    Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
    Experience: At least 1 year of laboratory experience or relevant academic exposure.
  • **Laboratory Technician Level 2:**
    Education: Associate's degree.
    Experience: Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience or relevant academic exposure.
  • **Laboratory Specialist:**
    Education: Bachelor's degree.
    Experience: 3 years of relevant experience or 6 years of laboratory-related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in managing mouse colonies.
  • Familiarity with flow cytometry techniques.
  • Knowledge of sterile cell culture practices.
